I’ve told you many times that we have been watching Bachelor every week for over 10 years. Don’t get excited. We don’t watch it because of the show–we realize it’s dumb and a waste of our time. But we have many other reasons to get together, not the least of which is the food, fellowship, and adult beverages we serve. Recently Debra brought her life long friend Dannie, who was visiting from Arkansas. Boy, those Southern women can really cook. And Dannie brought us some of the best desserts we’ve ever had: Soda Cracker Pie and Apple dumplings. Today I’m giving you the dumplings. I think you’ll like the method AND the result of this unusual, fun dish!

DANNIE’S APPLE TURNOVERS
1 roll Pillsbury Crescent rolls (They now have Hawaiian!)
1 large apple, peeled and cut into 8 wedges
1 stick melted butter
3/4 cup white sugar
1 small can Sprite or 7 up the recipe called for 6 oz. (the little can is 7 oz. but I used it anyway
Roll each wedge in a section of crescent roll

arrange in round 8″ cake pan
Pour butter over. Sprinkle sugar on top. Pour Sprite over. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees
Optional: sprinkle cinnamon sugar or chopped nuts over.
These are GREAT, Dannie! Ask me how I know….
