MY MOMMA’S FRENCH DRESSING 1938

I am in a panic because I just posted this recipe on my Instagram (askmehowiknowcb)and I forgot one of the MOST important ingredients: Sugar!!!

In the olden days we used to make our own salad dressings. I still do, but this is one I haven’t made in years. Angela came over and mentioned she likes French dressing on her sandwiches, but she has a hard time finding it in stores unless it’s “low fat”. She had no idea you could make the real stuff. We made it, and she said it ABSOLUTELY what she remembered. A sweet, tart, bright orange dressing that is great on salads, and in her case, Sandwiches! So here is the recipe: (WITH the sugar!)

In a blender:

one small sliced onion

1/2 cup oil

1/3 cup white vinegar

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp salt

1/4 cup catsup (I like a little more: 1/3 cup)

Blend and refrigerate
